Testing crop protection and nutrition products. Depending on clients needs data collection could include assessing how well the product works, how crop safe the product is, how it affects plant development, yields, etc.
VARIETY TRIALS
Test new varieties out in the field and collect agronomic data such as days to heading, plant height, days to maturity, lodging, yield, etc.
Red Fox Ag Research is a contract research organization (CRO) conducting small plot research trials in central Manitoba. Our homesite is located at Hilbre, Manitoba with a satellite site at Ste. Rose du Lac, each with different growing conditions.
Melissa Fuchs, Owner and Research Agronomist, started her small plot research career in 2007 running GLP (MOR) trials. In the years that followed her trial work expanded to include variety trials, demo trials, confined field trials, as well as herbicide efficacy, tolerance, fungicide efficacy, fertility, seed treatment and inoculant trials.
Our station is located 2 hours north-west of Winnipeg in Ashern, MB.
The primary field site is located at Hilbre in the Interlake region of Manitoba and just a short 25 min drive north of the station. Our satellite site is in Sainte Rose du Lac (Ste. Rose for short) in the Parkland region of the province.
Crops typical for these areas include wheat, barley, oats, canola, flax, soybeans, dry peas, dry beans, seed alfalfa, fall rye, winter wheat, silage corn, and grain corn.
